Here’s what happens when you start painting without first considering your subject matter. You paint concrete genitals sticking out of gloryholes in the docks at Shoreline Village in Long Beach. The thing to take away from this lesson: DON’T DO THIS.

Sweet new scanner

Well, now that APE is over I guess it’s time to focus on school once again. That is, while I also continue to work on my next comic that’s not on a deadline. So this semester I’m taking a plein air painting class again. I cannot describe how valuable this class is to me. It is invaluable! I’ve got a sweet new scanner that is SO FAST and make real good scans. My old one still works, and I used it to scan every page of “Pogonotomy,” but it took about 30 seconds or more to scan vs this new one taking about 3 seconds. AWESOME. Anyway, here’s a painting I made a couple weeks ago. It’s gouache, which I just started learning how to use. This is actually my third painting with gouache. The first two are really bad.
