I was sick last week with some sort of weird 2-day cold/fever thing, so I had to miss class. I returned this week with a vengeance! Those upper legs didn’t know what was coming!

Fun class tonight. We were using photo ref again and learning about the muscles of the back, particularly those that act on the arms. I started drawing from this one photo of some old dude. The top half of his head was cut off from the image and I felt bad for him, so I made sure to give him a whole head once again!

These were drawn from pictures. While last week we focused more on the large forms, shapes, and rhythms of the torso, last night night we focused more on the actual muscles.

Ink Studies

Here’s the finished Joseph Clement Coll ink study that I started last week. I was able to find another 20 minutes and finish up her skirt and shoes. The entire piece was inked with a crow quill. Below that you’ll find a new Bernie Wrightson study that I started in class last night, except this time the entire thing is being inked with a brush, no quill allowed.

Again, very helpful in these were the penciled outlines provided by my teacher, which are still visible in the unfinished portions of both pieces.
